Disaster management is similar to disaster mitigation, however it implies a whole-of-government approach to exploitation community resources to fight the effects of an event and assumes the community ordain be self-sufficient for periods of time until the situation can be stabilized. Hurricane Katrina was the costliest natural disaster ever to strike the fall in Sates. In an effort to learn from one of the worst storms in U.S. history, researchers evoke proposals to study a variety of social, environmental, and ecological impacts of Hurricane Katrina.
