Psychology, the study of behaviour and mental processes, as described in the textbook is a course that I feel everyone would emolument from taking. Learning the basics of how and why humans behave and office staff the way they do would help people perplex wind themselves as well as those almost them better. So far, it has certainly helped me in regards to that aspect, and I hope that it continues to do so, especially since I am a Psychology major. ?The section in the course that has hypnotised me and has been most reusable to me was the Memory section, in particular the seminar course session around Clive Wearing. This story helped me understand mental illness, especially those colligate to Alzheimers disease. This stuck with me the most because of a close family member, an uncle of mine, has been affected with this disease. It helped me understand how and why this, as well as other similar diseases, occur. My uncle, a great deal like Wearing, was intelligent and successful before Alzheimers struck him. He was once a brilliant doctor praised by everyone in my extended family, to impose him fall from grace is this manner is real heartbreaking.?Reading the article and watching the video also allowed me to see the struggles of people that go through diseases similar to Wearings and how it affects their family and loved ones.



I had imagined it would be difficult to handle, but I had no supposition the intensity of the care the affected person needs and how more than of a toll it can take on those around him/her. It is, to some extent, like loosing the person you love, keeping their body alive, and having the person on the inside completely changed. ?Along with helping me understand the disease and the effects of it, the seminar discussion also helped me learn about ways to prevent or lower the risk of this chance to myself and other loved ones.
