The Pedestrian

The Pedestrian is a short story by quill Bradbury, an author known for deeply philosophical and poetic prose that is frequently set in a time of space travel. When he gets in the car, he is told he is going to the psychiatrical Center for Research on Regressive Tendencies, where they can shew him to determine what is wrong.



He is then unceremoniously carted away in an automated police car, the victim of a society so degraded it cannot comprehend something so simple as enjoying a walk.The story is a cautionary tale against societys growing crush with television and electronics. It warns that society, similar to the sidewalk, is sure to crumble without human interactions to pass on it whole. In The Pedestrian by Ray Bradbury, the television is the net dehumanizer -- it prevents crime, but withal removes any possibility of interpersonal exploration, and also serves to spoil the bodies of those that get obsessed.
